Chapter 15: One×One①
On that day, I exchanged promises of “See you again” with Siesta and the Knight Commander, and we parted ways.
Our planned three-day stay in the Royal Capital came to an end, and the next day, we left the city behind.
Thus began a period of busy yet leisurely days, and two months have passed since that day. Though it was only two months, quite a few events had unfolded.
I thought about sharing everyone’s stories, but where should I start…? Well then, let’s begin with Adam and Nelly.
They returned to their respective estates, each choosing to spend their time as they wished.
Adam mentioned he would live as a noble in the land granted to him by the king.
“It’s embarrassing, but I don’t know anything. I plan to start from scratch and study politics. Is it tough? Certainly, it will be. But I’m really excited about this second life that’s about to begin.”
His bittersweet expression as he grinned left a strong impression on me.
As for Nelly, she seemed unsure of what she wanted to do and said she would leave the management of her territory to the steward for the time being. In fact, she still couldn’t believe she was free from her duties, and she planned to take her time adjusting to reality. According to Ash, using the Demon Seal Skill was incredibly taxing, feeling as if all the strength was being drained from one’s body… Given that, it wasn’t surprising that Nelly seemed to be experiencing something akin to burnout.
Even so, she told me as we parted, “Thank you so much! When you come this way, you absolutely have to stop by my house!”
Pul-san and Ange decided to settle in the Royal Capital, so they stayed behind while we parted ways. Goodbyes are always sad. But for me—
“Ichiro, it’s about time you wake up and make some rice.”
Sena jumped onto my back. The hungry Sena was pestering me, even though it was already close to noon and I was being lazy.
“Alright, just give me a moment.”
With Sensei having set off on a journey with Mika, it was just Sena and me living together in the old cabin on Hidden Mountain. Eris and Orphe were both absent now.
Still, I frequently descended from the mountain to the town, where I would meet up with Anon and Milan.
Speaking of which, I recently heard some information about Ryuguin when I met Anon.
So next, I want to talk about the achievements in Ryuguin. The labyrinth he is challenging is known as the most difficult one, the Labyrinth of Time. It was the same labyrinth where he had previously failed spectacularly and was forced to attempt again.
